Featuring plenty of lovelorn, layered vocals, vast beats, infectious finger-snapping moments throughout ‘& It Was U’ and what sounds like a bottomless homage to Ashanti’s ‘Foolish’ in ‘Running Back’, the album, available now to listen to in full, is packed with playful nods and contradictions, acting as an impassioned love letter to Krell’s musical influences. Clearly a labour of complete devotion, the whole album is far more uplifting and optimistic than its title would suggest.
