Kieran Hebden sticks to form with a twinkling take on the Canadian's searching album cut.
Covering for Roska’s Tuesday slot on Rinse, Four Tet dropped a remix of Visions off Grimes’s ‘Visions’ – a release that recently took pride of place in Dummy’s top five albums of 2012.
The track sees Hebden stay within the framework of last year’s ‘Pink’ collection – heartfelt house patterns which felt more indebted to dancefloor mechanics than much of his album output to date. Isolating the dizzying higher reaches of the original vocal, these loops blissfully play off the production – becoming more interlocked as more percussive layers are added. It makes for a pretty enticing meeting of musical worlds, but this may be as far as the project will go, with Hebden suggesting on Twitter that it’s unlikely to see an official release.
