Francis & The Lights – The White Room

Just unearthed this lovely concert film of someone for whom either meteoritic fame or eternal obscurity are both equally likely and unlikely. Francis & The Lights is a solo thing from Francis Farewell Starlite, a songwriter based in New York who has signed to Polydor, been valued at $1 million by a venture capital firm, written songs for Drake and toured with Ke$ha. He has also collaborated with underground musicians like Das Racist and Inc., records minimal funk, composes full scores for tender indie scifi films about safe-cracking robots and plays concerts to no-one, like the one above. It looks like the found footage of a 1982 happening by a tragically forgotten Kitchen star. I hope it will make Francis as famous as he should be. He’s released some music already, you should listen to it.
