Four Tet & RocketNumberNine - Metropolis

Yesterday Four Tet shared the flipside to the light, soft-to-the-touch Roseland, making up his forthcoming joint release with RocketNumberNine. As the name implies, Metropolis is far more bustling fare – again crafted around RocketNumberNine’s brushed drums, though here they must contend with obtrusive organ blasts that wrestle for supremacy throughout. As its tumbles along, Metropolis puts you in mind of the oppressive skyscrapers and busy hoards of passers-by the name implies. But in gentler interludes it’s allowed breathing space, as a rising chord sequence asserts itself – a moment of respite to peer up at blue skies in amongst all the din. Stream it below.
