Four Tet - For These Times

Kieran Hebden – who most recently shared a solid collaboration with RocketNumberNine – posted up the new Four Tet track For These Times onto Soundcloud this afternoon. The track was Kieran’s contribution to the recent ‘Think And Change’ compilation from Boddika and Jon Convex’s Nonplus+ label – but it may have come onto your radar as far back as October through Joy Orbison’s excellent Resident Advisor mix.

It’s another club cut in the vein of TTIBPTPKAAATJUIHRAMADPOBR, going for utter percussive freneticism for its main source of momentum. Dropping us right in with hefty four-to-the-floors and building around ‘There Is Love In You’-esque snatches of cooing voice, insistent snare rolls come to dominate like some kind of steroid-fuelled, muscle-bulging marching band. Unlucky for some, and it’s still early days: but 2013 is looking to be a potentially vintage year from Kieran Hebden.
