Empress Of - Hat Trick

Brooklyn’s Empress Of – who first impressed us no end with her intriguing colourminutes series in the autumn – will have an EP released by Double Denim at the start of April, the first single from which will be Hat Trick. First full-length songs like Don’t Tell Me suggested moves into more expressive pop terrain, and this is extended through Hat Trick’s sugary grooves. Getting over the vocal resemblances to St. Vincent, it carries airs of woozy glamour similar to those present on Champagne – and listen closely for some excellent effects-fuelled guitar work.
