Drake + Rick Ross – Free Spirit [MP3]

“Tat my name on you girl so I know it’s real / tat my fuckin’ name on you so I know it’s real” being growled at you by Rick Ross might not be the most comforting way to start off your week, but over the weekend Drake dropped three new tracks on his website. The chorus of “Free Spirit Ft. Rick Ross”, produced by long-time collaborator 40, sounds far less threatening from Drizzy coming across more like the needy boyfriend than mob boss. No Drake exposure would be complete without a woozy ballad about champagne problems, and “Club Paradise” once again sees him reflecting on all the people he left behind, how tough it is to be famous is and all the strippers names he has to remember. Whether or not you choose to empathise with him “No wonder why I feel awkward at this Fashion Week shit / no wonder why I keep fucking up the double cheek kiss” is probably something a lot of people can relate to in one way or another.

Between Brick Squad and Young Money there probably isn’t any more room left in recording studios these days, so it makes sense to combine the two on “Round Of Applause” with vocals from Drake and Waka Flocka Flame. Unfortunately producer Lex Luger manages to make this track sound most of the other singles he’s produced in the past, so better just to stick to “B.M.F.” if you’re looking for something to play in your rented Bentley.

No word on if any of these tracks are from Drake’s forthcoming album “Take Care” which is scheduled to be released next month, but at this rate he’ll have probably leaked all the tracks before the release date anyway.
