Caribou's Dan Snaith has made the first album from his house-oriented side project available to stream in full.
Dan Snaith, AKA Caribou, recently introduced his latest project, Daphni, by writing:
I’d fallen back in love with moments in small, dark clubs when a DJ puts on a piece of music that not only can you not identify but that until you heard it, you could not have conceived of it existing. In contrast to live concerts where bands predictably string together the songs from their most recent album, DJs have the potential to blindside you, be genuinely surprising.
With that in mind, his debut Daphni LP, Jiaolong, genuinely does blindside its listener. With brilliantly incongruous vocal samples sandwiched between shimmering synths and fairly aggressive beats, Daphni’s aim seems to be to squeeze everything he loves about clubs, and music in general, into one record, which does actually make for a startling – and fun – listen.
Jiaolong will be released digitally on the 9th October. Stream it in full via Resident Advisor.
