CFCF - Exercise #3 (Building)

CFCF is Montreal producer Mike Silver who’s released records on two of Dummy’s favourite labels Acéphale and RVNG Intl in recent years, as well as Canada’s Paper Bag Records who put out his debut album ‘Continent’ in 2009. It was his remix of Harald Grosskopf’s B. Aldrian on last year’s RVNG reissued/remixed ‘Synthesist/Re-Synthesist’ LP that pricked my ears however, an intricate, feathery meditation on simply being. Exercise #3 (Building), the first taste of his new ‘Exercises’ EP due in April, picks up that thought and allows it to unravel in the most enchanting of ways, recalling the early improvisational compositions of David Borden’s synth ensemble Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Company but somehow cleaner, with more room to breath. I have a feeling this will be one I’ll be returning to many times this year.

Paper Bag Records will release CFCF’s ‘Exercises’ EP on 24th April 2012
