Ariel Pink - Thrash & Burn

Recorded around 1998, and now uploaded for our listening pleasure by the good people of Berlin’s HEMArchiv, ‘Thrash & Burn’ is a pre-Haunted Graffiti project by Ariel Pink.

Described as musique concrète, the projects is an experiment with faux-primitive tape loops. It sounds way more unpolished than even his most unpolished work, and that’s exactly how we like it. The collection (it seems wrong to call it an “album”) has been remastered by HEM, transferring the original tapes with precision and pristine audio engineering, and will be released as a limited edition, 4-cassette boxset.

You can stream the whole set on HEM’s Soundcloud page.

For anybody interested in musique concrète, check the recent Dummy guide to found sound, and for anybody interested in getting their hands on one of the 250 cassettes being released, you can do so here.

‘Thrash & Burn’ is available to order through HEMArchiv now.
