AlunaGeorge - Attracting Flies

AlunaGeorge’s new single Attracting Flies got its first play on Zane Lowe tonight, coinciding with confirmation that their debut LP ‘Body Music’ will see a summer release of 1st July.

Again, as we noted with Diver last month, Attracting Flies doesn’t really bring anything radically different to last year’s ‘You Know You Like It’ EP – and neither quite hits the immersive heights of Your Drums, Your Love. Still, Attracting Flies is bouncy and boisterous – fuelled along by George Reid’s quirky, R&B-fused production. Aluna Francis’s vocal, as sweet and soft they come, is also cleverly contrasted through the embittered lyrics, as she snarls at the song’s subject: “everything you exhale is attracting flies”. With previous reworks coming from the likes of Bobby Tank and Bondax, Soundcloud also informs us that trap-stars Baauer and S-Type will both be due on remix duty for the track. Stream it below.

Island will release the Attracting Flies single on the 10th March, and ‘Body Music’ on 1st July
