Playlist: Kara-Lis Coverdale

Tune into some beautifully varied soundscapes ahead of explorative Canadian producer.

Listen to a playlist compiled by explorative Canadian producer, Kara-Lis Coverdale.

Described by The Guardian as “one of the most exciting young composers in North America”, Montreal based composer and artist Kara-Lis Coverdale's output thoroughly questions the distinction between human and the machine, whilst building easily traversable bridges between the worlds of pop and classical music.

From early beginnings spent performing piano recitals at home in rural Ontario to studying for a masters degree in musicology and holding down a day job as a church organist, Kara-Lis' journey has never fallen short of special, with her first debut album 'Aftertouches' named as a top 10 album of 2015 by The Wire. An "exploration of coded realism and virtual transfiguration", it's a piece of work that shimmers in all the right places. If you're searching for inner harmony right now, listen to TOUCH ME & DIE, and you'll be sure to find it.

Describing her playlist as "a collection of instrumental music with no particular function or use", Kara's selections range from the paranoid echoing of Carl Stone's Echoing (it's in the name), through to jilted horns on Dickie Landry's Kitchen Solos and the manipulated techno of Bataille Solaire's jittery up-tempo number, Boul.
