Dummy Mix 91 // Deptford Goth
Daniel Woolhouse is actually based in Peckham, not Deptford, and really isn’t that goth as well. His music feels more like soulful R&B blended with elements of post-dubstep and singer-songwriter structures. It makes sense that Deptford Goth started in 2010 when Daniel decided to combine his guitar and piano based approach to writing music with electronic production and sounds. A fantastic reinterpretation of Mariah Carey’s Fantasy surfaced on the internet soon after and set the artist’s hype machine well on its way.
His upcoming EP on Merok Records is brimming with sparse beats, a wobble here and there, warm padded synths, and vocal warblings that ooze with emotion and a hint of vocoding. Bliss out and sink into Deptford Goth’s tender world of post-caffeine slumps with this lovely genre-defying mix.

It’s things I’ve been listening to recently and some songs that I keep coming back to. It moves through different areas of music but each track acts as an introduction to the next in some way.
What’s coming up for you?
My E.P. Youth II, is out on 17th October on Merok Records and I’m working on an album that should be out early next year. I’m thinking about getting a cat.
