Dummy Mix 81 // July Staff Mix

This month’s staff tip-off comes in a bomb. Legendary American composer David Borden kicks things off with his wordless ambient rhythmic pulse, The Continuing Story of Counterpoint, part 9. His latest improvised piece that is featured on the RVNG Intl.-released ‘FRKWYS Vol. 7’ (which include tracks from James Ferraro, Samuel Godin, Laurel Halo and Daniel ‘Oneohtrix Point Never’ Lopatin) is worth checking out too. Hype Williams surprise us with their “temporarily lost track” from ‘One Nation’; and XXXY drops another elevating jam out of nowhere. Carrying the south-London-bass-music flag are James Blake, with his latest Hemlock-released A-side Order, and Night Slugs member Jam City. Hudson Mohawke’s Thunder Bay stirs up like a thunderstorm, and Blawan tears the house down with his reinterpretation of Beastie Respond’s Syncopy. Three brand new tracks come from London’s own The Horrors, Portland’s Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Brooklyn’s Autre Ne Veut, all incredibly dazzling, summery and psychedelic. ASAP Rocky’s screwed rap Swag Purple should be not missed, and lastly, Deniz Kurtzel of Crosstown Rebel’s fame ends things with her fine, house groove.

Hold on to your hat, because you’re about to be blown away.
