Dummy Mix 56 // Rainbow Arabia

Rainbow Arabia play world music with a full heart and a dance beat, are from LA and after some releases on Manimal Vinyl, will release their debut full length on Kompakt in March 2011.

How’s it going?

Fantastic!

Can you please tell us a bit about the mix?

It’s kind of a mixture of elements that were influences on our new album. Start with some 80’s synth classics, preferably OMD or Depeche Mode label, then add some Italian Typhoon Beppe Loda mixes, let that simmer a bit. Finish it off with some Secret Circuit sauce and a Spoek Mathambo for garnishment.
Total cooking time 34 minutes.

What’s coming up for you in the next few months?

Just preparing for our debut full length “Boys and Diamonds” out soon on Kompakt. Our new video that we filmed while in Serbia over the summer should be ready next month. Probably take a little break from shows the next couple months before touring US and Europe next year.

What music has really blown you away lately?

We really like Spoek Mathambo’s album. There’s some cool Cumbia-flavored electronic things happening, such as Tormenta Tropical/Bersa Discos and ORO11. Nguzunguzu from LA is awesome. Butchy Fuego (Pit Er Pat, Boredoms, and producer of our last EP) has some sick new jams upcoming. Thee Urxed (Rob from High Places) blew me away at his last show.

Kompakt releases Rainbow Arabia’s LP Boys and Diamonds on the 28th February 2011
