Dirty Projectors – Gun Has No Trigger

‘Gun Has No Trigger’ is the only track yet to be heard from the Dirty Projectors’ upcoming album Swing Lo Magellan, due out on Domino Records on the 10th July. All patient, anticipation-streaked harmonies and desperate vocals, the track is a swelling storm of a moment, surrounding and overwhelming the senses.

This stripped-back, synaesthetic video, released on Thursday, meets that mood perfectly, as it forms a shifting backdrop to the band’s crooning faces, enhancing the song as it matches its simple-but-genius crescendo. Not to mention, it appears to pay tribute to those classic iPod adverts from a few years ago.

Beach House – Lazuli

This Alan Cordell-directed clip for the latest Beach House (pictured) single – taken from their new album, Bloom – contains exploding eggs, supernatural household appliances and some wacky geometric visuals used to depict a crossover between worlds. There are not many other videos released this week, or ever, that contain any of those things, which makes ‘Lazuli’ at least worth a watch.

A$AP Rocky ft. Schoolboy Q – Brand New Guy

A$AP Rocky briefly took a break from being at the centre of a fight in London this week to release some new visuals for his 2011 mixtape LiveLoveA$AP. Typically dimly-lit, ferocious and cut through with flashes of precious metal, the video sees two of the biggest rising stars in rap prove their credentials. It also contains some upside-down rapping, which is something new.

Sigur Rós – Varúð

This clip from Sigur Rós marks the latest instalment in their ‘Mystery Film Experiment’ series, which overall features clips from 12 different directors, including John Cameron Mitchell, Ryan McGinley and Ramin Bahrani.

In Ingibjörg Birgisdóttir’s video for ‘Varúð’, we find a contemplative and gradually unfolding scene, affected by the softly glimmering influences of changing weather and the appearance of distant, faceless silhouettes. Taken from the band’s latest LP Valtari , the crash of music provided by ‘Varúð’ is allowed full sway in this subtly minimal and yet completely evocative video.

CocoRosie – We Are On Fire

Parisian art-folk duo CocoRosie released this abstractly beautiful clip for their latest single ‘We Are On Fire’ on Thursday. Their first release since their Sub Pop album Grey Oceans in 2010, the song itself is playfully insistent enough to stick in your mind; coupled with this slow-motion, sparkling video from director Emma Freeman, however, it’s worth a few plays. ‘We Are On Fire’ is out now on Touch and Go.
